Observations from Peter!
- The Rangers are running away with the east. They’ve got just two one wins (and one more game played) than Boston, but have gotten enough charity points from overtime losses to pad them.
- Boston, meanwhile, is the best two-way team in the league. Their offense is best in the league (Detroit close behind), and their tending by Rask and Thomas is peerless.
- Florida leads the Southeast, so they get the third spot, but their point ranking would put them in 7th place otherwise. Southleast indeed.
- Ottawa in 7th place has gone belly up in the last 10, losing 8 (2 in overtime). Their tanking may be very good news for the Caps.
- Only the dirty ‘Peg and Tampa have worse road records than the Caps. Maybe Carolina if you count the OTLs.
- Don’t believe people who say NYI is coming back.
- What this chart doesn’t tell you is how tough the remaining schedule is for each team. That Caps are gonna have a rough time through the end of March. They’re gonna have to be a better team to make the playoffs.
- How awesome would another NYR-WSH series be?
